RMIT UNIVERSITY: PIXEL SUNGLASSES CAMPAIGN
Campaign Background:
The Pixel Sunglasses was a product created by a Product Design student, Ryan Turss, at RMIT University which was sold in the RMIT Campus Store. The pixel is the RMIT emblem and was the inspiration for the design. I was given creative control to create a campaign for the launch of the product in January 2019.
Campaign Objective:
The objective was to create awareness and sales of the Pixel Sunglasses. However, it was also important to highlight the opportunities RMIT University offers students to gain real-world experience and be apart of the designing process.
Campaign Delivery:
Before the product had arrived, I worked with the Campus Store Manager to record an interview with Ryan and develop it into a blog post (written and photographed by me). This was an introduction to the product and insight into the process and journey from design to end-product. Once the product had arrived, I was able to photograph and design the campaign images. Due to the funky design of this product, I decided to photograph the campaign and product images with a colour pop theme reflecting the colour variety of the product. All images and graphics were created by me for the website and posters. The best part was Ryan featured in the campaign.
Results:
The campaign was positively received and influenced many other Student Life campaigns following. The Pixel Sunglasses sold relatively well, however, the high price point did deter some consumers. Unfortunately, that aspect was out of my control.
